Study Finds NYC's Smoke-Free Air Act Has Not Hurt
Restaurant Business
John J. Smith writes: Who can I complain to
about changing the laws on smoking in restaurants? I was in a resturant this past
Saturday non-smoking area, like alot of good that does. I would like to be able to go to a
resturant that is smoke-free, all the hamburger resturants are smoke-free, lets do the
same for the resturants as well. I enjoy eating out, but with the no smoking areas in the
same area as the smoking section, why bother. I feel that a smoker can stop smoking for
a mere 30 to 45 minutes while dining out. Please if you know who I can pass along my
opions to let me know.
Joel T. Hill writes: I'm from
Muskogee, Oklahoma. I and a few business associates would like to start a petition to
ban smoking in public restaurants. Please send me anything you may have concerning
this issue i.e. previous attemps to do so and what cities and states. Also tell me of any
frederal laws which might be contrary to what we are trying to accomplish.
Joy Brazonis writes: I am
doing a school project on smoking. I need info on when the "No smoking in Public
Restaurants" began. I need all the info I can get. Such as when it began and do
restaurants have a choice to put up signs?
Apte writes: Congratulations! Good
Work. Carry On. I send this message from Holland. We have many laws against smoking
on paper only. In restaurants we do not have separate sections for smokers and
non-smokers as in USA.
Ruben Balza writes: I am
looking for some kind of economic information that supports the
smoking ban in restaurants. Please, if you have some useful
information, send it to my email address.
sjpoblete@aol.com writes: If you are from
New Jersey, the American Cancer Society of Mercer County is organizing an event in
Chambersburg, Trenton where 11 restaurants in the area have pledged to be smoke-free
for the whole day. Chambersburg is known for their excellent Italian cuisine. It will
take place on Thursday, November 21 lunch and dinner. For a list of restaurants, email
me. (Note - This event took place in 1996)
